Nomen-what?
Nomenclature. Nomenclature is the way in which something is named or a name is given to something, particularly in Chemistry. Using prefixes, suffixes, and tools, one is able to successfully name Ions, Ionic Compounds, Molecules, and even Acids. For example, you may see C2H3O2-. However, a Chemist would read this simply as Acetate. This is an example of polyatomic Ion and its name. A chart for the most common Polyatomic Ions will be given under the Ion and Ionic Compound page.
